Current report from Mexico

Once again, it has been a long time since our last post. Fall was spent hunting, fishing for Luke, and Emily enjoyed traveling to lower 48 for fun, and an enjoyable work trip to San Francisco AGU conference for Emily. Luke began a new job in September and is back in the swing of things. Also, we are busy with initial planning phases of building our new house next summer. Luckily we will not be doing the building ourselves, but we will probably get to do a little of the interior design ourselves to put our own creative spin on the house (i.e. to save a few bucks). Due to low snowfall last fall, little winter skiing has occurred so far, but hopefully it will pick up in January/February.

Now we are on our annual winter vacation to somewhere warm! This time it is La Penita, the Mexican town on the Pacific Coast where Emily's parents live. The Boles family from Wisconsin (including niece/nephews) met us down here and rented out the casitas at Villa Chuparosa next door. Many days were spent lounging at la playa, boogie boarding, eating fresh ceviche, pina and limonada drinks, and a daily order of tacos and/or hamberguesas! A few of the guys went out on a fishing trip for dorado, and we enjoyed a home made meal of fish tacos, baja style. We enjoyed a whale tour out in the Jaltemba Bay and saw several humpback whales swimming near our boat. After the Boles family departed, we visited Emily's Aunt Joanne at her rented condo in Old Town Puerto Vallarta for a few days.

Luke has returned to Alaska and Emily remained in Mexico for 2 more weeks, getting to spend time with her brother, Jacob and his girlfriend, Shauna, who are visiting from Boulder, CO. Emily and family went to nearby San Blas, a community of surfing, banana bread, jejenes, and a bird refuge.
