Getting some camping in

Last weekend we had company so we took the camper out the Steese Highway to the northwest of Fairbanks. It was beautiful out there with the fireweed and wildflowers blooming. The camper performed great. We went on a short hike up the Pinnell Mountain Trail at 12-mile summit and then cooked dinner before driving down out of a thunder and lightning storm at about 10:30pm and ended up camping along the Chatanika. The next day we drove over to Nome Creek and did a hike up the Quartz Creek Trail and after the hike we ate dinner at the Chatanika roadhouse.

We are heading out the Steese again this weekend with our friends Bob and Jessie. Emily got a job at the University and starts next week.

What a nice way to quickly get out into the wilderness and not have to set up a tent but be comfortable and warm and dry. You are going to love using it all the time!

Ditto what your mom said. My first thought was how nice to drive off for the weekend with your home behind your back and enjoy the wilderness.
