Emily's Training class in Boulder, CO

My survival partner and I (sporting injuries) demonstrating the most efficient rain poncho

Emily spent 5 days in Boulder, CO for a wilderness survival training for my job. My friends Bob and Anna were also attending, along with 17 others from other parts of the country, all of who conduct research in Arctic areas. The training consisted of 2 days of medical training, 1 day of aircraft safety/survival and bear and firearm safety, and then 1 day of survival and field scenarios. It was pretty fun and I learned a lot of good things regarding medical emergencies and how to deal with bleeding wounds, CPR and pulse rates, setting fractures, relocating dislocated shoulders, fingers, etc. Also learned snaring techniques, rope knots, and fire starting. I also got to visit my brother Jacob, who lives in Boulder and works at Full Cycle and got to spend some good time with him each evening and on Friday. It was nice to be away from the cold weather!
