Lao cooking class

Luke frying rice noodles and eggs for Fue Khua

Oh Padek (Lao pork casserole) Kheua Sen Lon (noodles with pork and veggies) Chicken Larp (a cold meat salad)

Emily with a Luang Prabang salad

First things first... when you arrive in a new country, you must understand their cuisine! Today we took a Lao cooking class and learned to make some great new dishes. The dishes here are kind of similar to Thai dishes, but maybe not so spicy. They spice it up with sauces and chutney dips on the side, so you can make it as spicy as you want to on your own. We had a market tour and then headed back to cook lunch and dinner. It was a full day of eating great food!

The night market in Luang Prabang is great. I (Emily) want to buy a ton of stuff, but we can't go overboard yet, we are only halfway through the trip and it would be too much to carry..... there are awesome textiles and silks here.

We will spend the next few days here, probably doing some exploring (biking and hiking around) before heading south toward Vang Vieng and the capital Vientiane.

Textile at the night market, reminds us of Guatemalan textiles!

Neat cooking class. Looks very professional, you could open a restaurant now.
