Mom's Birthday

Sleep has been sort of difficult due to the heat. We have fans, but still don't need a sheet until about 3am usually, when it cools off. It is almost too hot to lay next to each other! It was 90F but very humid, so it feels like 100+ due to the humidity.

Today we went to our first Yoga class in San Pancho (about 15 km south of Rincon de Guayabitos) at 8:30am. It was pretty good, but my dad farted and then I giggled when we were supposed to be concentrating. Luke didn't notice it because he was focused so hard and breathing hard the on downward facing dog moves. We got a pretty good workout and stretch. Then we went to San Pancho's gorgeous beach called Playa San Fransisco, probably my favorite beach (that is Luke and I walking in the photo, in the distance). There were a couple surfers, but the waves looked challenging and rough. It was very hot in the sun so we broke out the zinc oxide/titanium dioxide (now available in clear) for protection. Then we had limonada y papas fritas at the beachside palapa.

Next we checked out Playa de los Marcos. They have a place for rent w/ a pool for $300 or so per month. We are trying to figure out how we can do this again next winter...... maybe rent a place in one smaller Mexican town for 5 months (?) next time. Then we came back to Guayabitos and dad made curry and rice for mom's bday dinner. Dad ordered mom a cake and picked it up and mom made strawberry frozen yogurt w/ fresh strawberries we bought at the market yesterday. It is fun to eat fresh food that you buy at the market each day. Mom had to do the Mexican thing of putting your face in the cake. We may head to Sayulita on Sunday and Monday and then back to San Pancho on Tuesday for another morning Yoga class. On Thursday-Sunday of next weekend, we will take a trip north toward San Blas and beyond. Dias de los muertos is November 1 and 2, so hopefully we will find something fun happening...

Don't worry, I ate the piece I bit into. I was supposed to get my face smashed into the cake, but I chose to do it my way. By Linda, birthday girl
