After 3 chicken buses and one boat ride this morning taking about 4 hours total, we finally made it to the beautiful Lake Atitlan and the town of San Pedro. It is very scenic here, with volcanoes, mountains, and the bright blue lake. It is also super cheap, which is good for us, because we need to save money somehow! The bus/boat rides were about $5, our hotel room is only $7 USD and meals ha

ve been about $10 (breakfast and lunch) total. Not bad! Our room is pretty cute, very basic, but it has a great view of the lake and mountains, our own deck with a hammock, and ocean view out our window, all for $7 USD per night if you can believe that (see photo of Luke on deck and our room)! We'll probably do a few tours while we are here, some lake kayaking and hopefully some hiking, after we learn which areas are safe and finding a good guide. We'll stick around here until Saturday, because have to go to nearby Chichi to the big market on Sunday.
We are really glad to be here, where we can relax for awhile now. We have been moving around since our 1 week stay in Puerto Angel, Oaxaca, now we can stay in one place for several days and enjoy the scenic beauty and cheap prices!

That deck with hammock overlooking the lake is too much. Enjoy the rest for awhile.
