Xela (Quetzaltenengo), Guatemala

A quick note just to let you know we arrived in Guatemala yesterday. We are in the town of Xela (also known as Quetzaltenengo), in the mountains, surrounded by active volcanoes. We took a 1st class bus close to Xela, but had to change to one of the 'chicken buses' to get all the way. We will go on a tour this afternoon to some hot springs on the slope of a volcano. Tomorrow morning we will head to the crater lake, Lake Atitlan, 3 hours away, which is supposedly one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and is also surrounded by active volcanoes. We'll post more later.

Emily, have you taken any SX70's on the trip yet? Maybe in Antigua the buildings will be pretty for an sx70 shots, and the colorful markets of the crafts.
