Puebla, Mexico

We arrived in Puebla yesterday and checked into the Hotel Imperial about 4 blocks from the Zocolo. We spent yesterday and today walking around the town admiring the colonial architecture and talavera tiles. Many of the buildings have talavera tile on the building edifice and thoughout the interior. We stopped by a tile factory and showroom, we were too late to take a tour of the factory, but the showroom was beautiful.

For lunch we had a 5 course meal for 70 pesos (about $6.50) per person. It started with a pinapple and pasta salad, second came chicken soup and creme of aspargus, both were delicious. Then came the 3rd plate, which was huge, Emily had potato, garbanzo bean, and sausage stew and Luke had seafood paella. Finally, the main course arrived, which was pork with green sauce for Luke and chicken mole poblano, which were both excellent. Desert was a flan-like custard. We could only eat about 3/4 or less of the last few courses, because it was way too much. It was all very excellent and worth the expenditure though.

We plan on going to Oaxaca City tomorrow, a 4 1/2 hour bus ride from here.

Did you see it is -40 in Fairbanks, a 100 degree difference between there and Oaxaca! What are the plans there, visit any small towns, ruins?
Nice shots on Talavera tiles...and the food, looks yummy...
