Chacala

Yesterday we went to Chacala, located about 20 minutes north of Guayabitos. Victor had some business at the spa, Mar de Jade, so we had a great lunch there and hung out at the beautiful oceanside pools for the afteroon. Chacala is a small town, with a few hundred people and a beautiful beach, that is dead during the weekdays, but busy on the weekends with Mexican families on vacation, or coming from nearby town of Las Varas. It was a bit cooler there, perhaps because we were right on the beach, but I think the temperature or humidity was lower in Chacala than in Guayabitos. We took a few photos while in Chacala; one of bananas or platanos growing on a tree, another of Emily trying out our underwater camera in the swimming pool, and Luke spending his time reading in the hammock, listening to the waves crash on the beach. It was a relaxing afternoon and Mar de Jade has pretty good food, with good vegetarian dishes as well. We tried soy tacos, chicken tacos, corn chowder soup, green salad, and other healthy side salads.

Later that evening we came home for black bean tostadas and then sat by the computer until about midnight watching the election results, we were excited about the national elections but not too excited about the local Alaska elections because no one we vote for are ever elected! Wait......I think this is the first election we have voted in where one of our candidates has won (Thomas defeats Seekins).

We will probably visit San Sebastian sometime in the next week and then head to Guadalajara for a Nov 20 weeklong Spanish Class with a homestay.

Hi You Guys,
Just catching up with your blog and great photos after being with 8 high school girl friends for a week and that can really put one in another world. Your shots are the best!!! Especially Emily underwater. I should show you a shot of the rattlesnake at the front door who wouldn't let ANYONE into the house.
