Thanksgiving

On Thanksgiving, Thursday, I dropped Luke off at the spay/neuter clinic to do more volunteering and then came back to help my Mom prepare Thanksgiving dinner. Dad was volunteering at the health clinic in Las Varas for the morning. I made cornbread stuffing and mom made wild rice, sweet potatoes, and she even baked an apple pie. On Tuesday, Dad went to Puerto Vallarta and got a smoked turkey from Sam's Club, so we heated that up in the oven. It was pretty decent.

Today we went to the beach for a few hours and then Emily dropped Luke off at the spay and neuter clinic again. Luke spent all afternoon there and didn't return until about 10:30pm, and it was still going on when he left. It was the last day of the clinic and they ended up trapping or catching a few of the Playa Los Ayala beach dogs, which were totally infested with ticks, so they put tick medicine on their neck, which is supposed to repel the ticks for about a month. All told, they probably sterilized about 120 animals in 4 days, with 2 vets and about 25 volunteer helpers or more.

The weather has definately been "cooling" off. It is in the mid-80's during the day and then cools to about 60 at night and the humidity is low. It is perfect. Tomorrow we are going to the big city, Tepic, the capital of the state of Nayarit. We will return on Monday in time for Monday Night Football. Luke has been unable to watch his normal amount of football, so he is hoping that he can find a place with the game on. Have a great weekend and we'll post more when we return early next week.
