Today we went into La Penita for the Mexican Revolution Day parade. It began at 9am and went until about 12:30pm. The progression was from very young children to middle school age kids to adults. There had to be about 1000 or more kids in the parade. They were dressed up as farmers, campesinos, revolutionaries, etc. The girls wore long flowing skirts and braids. Other school kids were in marching bands, drumming or playing the horn, or else in gym classes or dance. Many gym classes did demonstrations of human pyramids, flag waving, etc. Later, Luke and I went to a volunteer organization meeting for the cats and dogs spay and neuter travelling clinic this week, which will be held in neighboring Playa Los Ayala. There are so many unfixed animals in Mexico and Emily's mom's friend talked us into signing up to help on Wednesday morning. Emily signed up for washing and sterilizing the instruments, while Luke will be working in the patient recovery room to monitor the animals after they are fixed. We hope to not catch any strange animal diseases! Also, today we saw an Ixcuintla, a Mexican hairless dog. We will probably see it again on Wednesday, so we will take a photo and post it to the web later in the week. They aren't the most attractive creatures, actually they are about the ugliest animals we have ever seen.

I'm sorry, but if you're trying to convince us that you are having more fun than you would be if you were home working, I'm not buying it!
